5 preview.

5 PREVIEW are Swedish and Italian designers Emeli and Diego who take ironic, iconic symbols to create a Unisex line of screen printed tees. Their punk-rock designs, appeal to those with a cynical attitude towards the fashion industry, and anyone simply in the market for a stylish and individual piece of clothing.

5 preview has become a world wide fashion craze with their in-your-face designs. The tees had sold internationally in exclusive stores in London, Tokyo, Berlin, Copenhagen and Brisbane, featured in the +46 fair in Stockholm, and selling out in numerous online stores.

Check out their blog to see proof of their popularity!

Made in China.

While erasing the mindless junk mail that litters my email account, I stumbled upon a newsletter from Wallpaper magazine. I totally forgot I had signed up to them and remembered their intriguing and quirky website so decided to check them out.

Wallpaper.com followed the MADE IN CHINA fashion shoot to explore the creative mind of artist Lei Wei. I personally thought his work was just a bit of cheeky photoshop but by using cranes and wires he creates visions of astounding glory.

WOAH.

The above video reveals how his crazy stunts have spilled over to the fashion world.

Heath Ledger's Final Performance.

Heath Ledger's final performance has been presented at the Cannes Film Festival. Terry Gilliam's film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, is a fantastical tale set in present day and stars Ledger as a charming man who falls in with a mysterious troupe offering a portal to fantasy worlds.

After the death of Health Ledger in January 2008, production was shut down for a few months. Then it was re-started when Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell agreed to complete Ledger's role. Due to the clever writings of Gilliam and McKeown, the film depicts each actor playing the man whose appearance changes as he travels between imaginary worlds.

Depp, Law and Farrell have given all their pay for this movie to Ledger's daughter Matilda so that her economic future would be secure. AMAZING! The movie closes with the dedication: "A film from Heath Ledger and friends." This film must be seen! Out in Autumn 2009.

Wendy Bevan

Isn't Wendy Bevan just plain cool? She is a Fashion Photographer and uses only Polaroids to depict her images. I love that ironic fact that fashion is all about cutting edge newness, and Wendy Bevan has actually made her vintage pictures to actually work. Well done to the Polaroid Factory reopening so she can continue with her artistic approach to fashion.

Best of the Rest.

BESTIVAL is a literally the best festival to attend to this summer. Okay, I understand I may be a bit bias since this will be my fourth year going, but after experiencing the wonders of the beautiful surroundings of Robin Hill Country Park on the sunny Isle of Wight, I cannot wait to return!

It is the most relaxing festival I ever been to- you are not there solely for the line up (the bloody beetroots are playing!) but because of the quirky, colourful and electric atmosphere. The food is organic and absolutely LUSH- from hallumi burgers to sushi bars, so not the fried crap we are all so used to consuming at festivals. It is the most original boutique camping experience with many types of arenas including the bollywood bar, a hidden disco and the kid's garden- where you can get your face painted!

Rob Da Bank's gathers an amazing line up of live music, DJs, comedy, spoken word and performance art that makes Bestival the BEST. In previous years, the line up has included my favs METRONOMY, THE DUKE SPIRIT, suprise guest GRACE JONES (the best dressed of 2008 and needed no costume), BEASTIE BOYS and HOT CHIP. This year I am so happy to hear that Kraftwerk are playing! MGMT and Florence and the Machine!

Oh and the great thing about this festival it is FANCY DRESS. Last year was 30,000 freaks under the sea, and although the heavens poured on the isle, it still remained magical with the spongebob squarepants, jellyfish and many octopuses floating around. This year's theme is SPACE. I'm already thinking of outfits. Any ideas??

Here are a few pictures I took with my PentaxMESuper last year- hope you like! and yes get your ticket now!

The Bloody Beetroots.

I awoke at 5am by a stupid text message from my sister stating 'bloody beetroots are sic'. I assumed that this was a drunken rambling and shuffled back under the covers. Only recently, I decided that maybe this incoherent text was actually her raving about some new music she discovered whilst on her travels to Miami. Therefore, I decided to check out their Myspace.

Their electro-punk remixes are undoubtedly unique, with contributions on their forthcoming album from Peaches and Vicarious Bliss. This music is made with the intention to RAVE to.

Plus, the guy behind it all studied classical music (so you KNOW he's not some random scenster eager to please the teenagers to hear a random blippy sound), and he reads 1970s comic books. I'm already a dedicated fan.

J Smith Esquire.

J Smith is a brilliant bespoke milliner designer, with such a friendly and artistic character. His three design lines, include Dance with Me, Kaleidoscope and his current collection THREE.

Dance with Me is J Smith's first official Bespoke Millinery line and was great for AW08. With his innovative feather designs and the 20's and 30's inspired looks, they supply a vintage feel to his collection.

His latest line is much more commercial than Kaleidoscope though. 'THREE' involves a basic denim look while Kaleidoscope is a collection of individual hand-made pieces that ranged from pearlescent headpieces to origami headhands. Each of his design lines are entirely distinctive, all displaying his unique style in every piece.

I was lucky enough to experience his installation show at LFW 09, which included some quirky animal noises played in the background by Chris Watson (a specialist in natural history and documentary location sound).

Here are his following designs from his AW 09 collection, "THREE".

(the police hat=my fav)

Behind the Seams.

Alistair Guy had the impressive idea of capturing the lives of women in the fashion industry by photographing their workspace and homes in the hectic build up to London Fashion Week 09.

Hannah Marshall is seen taking a cheeky pause from work in her studio obviously dressed head to toe in black and you can catch a glimpse of designer Ben Grimes smoking happily on a cigarette at her flat in East London.

From this exhibition, I cannot wait to discover how the fashionistas really are away from prying eyes!

Electro-douche.

Daito Manabe is a Japanese artist, creating a choreography of grimaces and twitches, by applying electrodes onto his face and harmonizing them to a homemade electro soundtrack.

Watch his crazy video art in the below link. Looks like the famous Cadbury's Dairy Milk Advert may have taken an idea or two from this talented young chap...
